What a ride!
Ten points for an adult; double for a child and fifty points for seniors. In Death Race 2050, no one is spared. If you’re a pedestrian, then you might want to stay home that day. In 1975, a small but ground-breaking film stood out. It was called Death Race 2000 and it was the bomb. In 2008, a remake got everybody’s attention. Death Race 2050 is yet another interpretation... and it's amazing!
This is a satire on politics and society in general. It is unapologetic, gory and hysterically funny. It’s an action flick, first and foremost, and it is very campy. The film looks like it was made in the 1980s, which is the big deal-breaker, here. This said, like Death Race 2000, it is an instant cult classic. It’s not for everyone. If you’re easily shocked, stay away. Otherwise, give it a try.
It’s got all the gratuitous skin you can ask for; male and female. Photographically speaking, this is a great improvement over the original film. Editing-wise, things could be better. The integrated graphic design is hilarious, but the narrative is a little clustered. All things considered, though, this is probably the coolest film you’ll watch this week.
