Sex on a stick
Meridian is one of Full Moon Entertainmentt’s most mature and qualitative productions, and one of its most controversial. When the main antagonist’s seduction talents fail, he resorts to hypnosis and roofies. Partial nudity and immorality ensue. Despite questionable scenes, this film is rather soothing. It’s shot in and around a castle, and in rustic settings. It’s told like an old legend.
Sherilyn Fenn plays the main protagonist to perfection. She’s almost too good for this film. The rest of the cast is fine. The man in a monster suit looks like a man in a monster suit. The special effects are decent. The picture doesn’t look cheap the way other Full Moon productions often do. The lighting is perfect. The photography is immersing. The story is simple but captivating.
Ultimately, there’s just no gimmick here. There’s no way to sell this movie to an audience, there is no potential for strong sequels, and no reason to remember this a week after you’ve seen it. It is reminiscent of Dracula and the Wolfman, but it’s its own thing, too. This is a strong recommendation for those who are sad that Gothic horror movies aren't being made anymore.
