If you only needed one reason to see this film, put all your eggs on Tiny Tim, who plays a flamboyant clown who “hardly takes the make-up off anymore”. Tim is better known as a composer and ukulele singer. You probably heard his voice, already. He’s a one-hit wonder known for “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”, an eerie fucking song and an instant earworm.
The man is creepy au naturel, and Bill Rebane, director, makes the most of it. This film was written by too many people, though, considering how basic it is. Tiny Tim doesn’t seem to know what picture he’s in, and he’s not bothered by it. He sings his way through this disjointed story, in between scenes of nudity and sex, and is having the time of his life.
Blood Harvest doesn’t protect its twists at all. Reveals come left and right at inopportune moments, leaving little to the imagination. Why make a crazy clown such a pivotal red herring, when in fact he feels completely disconnected from the plot. And why is he barely seen with other characters? This is half a whodunit, half a slasher, and half a clown movie.
